This collection made its debut in the home of Dubai-based Fronteriors Co-founder, Kath Hawkes.
Our Walnut doors are a perfect blend of craftsmanship and the natural beauty of this noble wood. Walnut features a rich grain pattern, with colors that range from light beige to deep brown, and over time, the wood darkens into even warmer, richer tones.
Kath’s choice of a combination of walnut and ivory doors reflects her love for warm minimalism—a design philosophy that embraces simplicity, natural materials, and a soft, calming color palette. She Framed Walnut doors on the base cabinets with Basic Ivory doors for the wall and tall cabinets creating a minimalist yet warm atmosphere in her open-plan kitchen and ding area. Her selection of our Sam handle and a speckled Silestone countertop perfectly complement the clean lines and understated elegance of the serene space that feels both refined and inviting. A fitting reflection of the Fronteriors aesthetic.
My vision for our new kitchen was to evoke a warm, earthy atmosphere while preserving the minimalist aesthetic Fronteriors is known for. Walnut doors had been on our design agenda for some time and our home renovation presented the perfect opportunity to bring that vision to life.
Kath’s move to this new family home was more than just a change of location—it was an opportunity to create a home that reflects her heritage and her passion for earthy toned interiors. She’s a lover of calm, neutral spaces that celebrate the inherent textures and imperfections of natural materials. She designed an open-plan kitchen where the walnut doors and drawers blend effortlessly into the space, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere to entertain family and friends. The pronounced wood grain adds a sense of luxury, while the thoughtful design ensures the space is as functional as it is stylish, with plenty of room for everyday family moments.
The home showcases how IKEA’s modular systems can be used in a variety of ways, proving that smart, stylish storage solutions don’t always require custom cabinetry or have to come with a hefty price tag. Whilst Sektion cabinets are typically used in kitchens, they can easily be adapted for other purposes. Kath’s buffet-bar area doesn’t just provide storage for dinnerware and glassware—it also serves as a stylish focal point that blends effortlessly with her dining room decor and open-plan kitchen.
